Meruorah Labuan Bajo Welcomes the New Year 2026 with Interfaith Prayers and a Night of Friendship on the Labuan Bajo Seashore

LABUAN BAJO, January 1, 2026 – Amidst the crashing waves and cool breezes from the sea, the Meruorah Komodo Labuan Bajo Hotel successfully hosted a New Year’s Eve celebration with a unique and heartfelt concept. The celebration of the end of the year (December 31, 2025) was muted in favor of a sense of solidarity and deep empathy for the victims of the natural disasters that struck Indonesia, particularly in Aceh and various regions of Sumatra.

Meruorah Komodo Labuan Bajo General Manager, Rudy Rudolf Butar Butar, stated, “Tonight, we are celebrating the turn of the year without fireworks. This is not a sign of a decline in celebration, but rather a transformation of joy, replaced by the lighting of candles and lamps on land and in the air. Management is taking a contemplative approach to this year’s celebration, beginning with a prayer from a religious leader. We will invite guests to observe a solemn silence, lighting a light in their hearts through prayer to stay connected with our brothers and sisters in Sumatra who are grieving. This is a small form of solidarity from Labuan Bajo for Indonesia.”

The series of events began with a solemn Gala Dinner in the Café et Lobby area. To open the session, promoting unity and solidarity, management invited guests to sing the song “Indonesia Pusaka” to affirm their love for their homeland. This was followed by an interfaith prayer with religious leaders from Islam, Christianity, and Hinduism, as the lights were dimmed and the guests lit candles together. This moment of prayer and silence, accompanied by the instrumental accompaniment of “Ibu Pertiwi,” sent a message of healing for the country and that the grief in Sumatra was the grief of the entire nation.

The warm dinner continued with the accompaniment of an acoustic band playing intimate songs. The family atmosphere was further enhanced by light games and a door prize for guests to stay at the In Journey Hospitality hotel chain.

As the New Year approached, the event continued at The Bay Restaurant. Featuring a simple yet memorable entertainment concept without fireworks, guests were treated to musical performances, contemporary dances, and other attractions. The event concluded with a countdown to the first seconds of 2026 filled with gratitude and good wishes.
