A Concrete Manifestation of Collaboration: PT. IFPRO, MERUORAH, and KODIM 1630 West Manggarai Revitalizes the Gorontalo Elementary School Library for the Future of Education in Labuan Bajo

Coinciding with the 2026 National Children’s Day celebrations, a concrete step to advance education in the Labuan Bajo region was officially launched. PT. IFPRO, along with Meruorah Komodo Labuan Bajo, in collaboration with the West Manggarai Military District Command (KODIM) 1630, officially launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program to rejuvenate and revitalize the library space at the Gorontalo Public Elementary School (SDN) in Komodo District, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara. This strategic step represents a concrete manifestation of cross-sector collaboration that has received the full blessing and appreciation of the West Manggarai Regency Government.

Education is a key pillar of civilization development, especially in the Labuan Bajo area, which is currently growing rapidly as a super-priority tourism destination. However, this economic acceleration must be balanced with improving the quality of human resources from an early age. The library was chosen as the center of revitalization because of its vital function as the “heart” of the school. Through a representative, comfortable, and modern reading space, children are expected to cultivate a strong culture of literacy, broaden their horizons, and become highly competitive for the future.

This CSR program goes beyond simply repairing the building’s physical structure; it also creates a child-friendly learning ecosystem. Through this revitalization, the SDN Gorontalo library will be transformed into a creative space capable of stimulating students’ interest in reading, and will serve as a special gift for the children of Labuan Bajo in celebration of National Children’s Day this year.

“The revitalization of the Gorontalo Elementary School library is our ongoing commitment to ensuring that tourism growth in Labuan Bajo goes hand in hand with improving the quality of education for children, the next generation. We believe that a decent reading space is their first window to the wider world. Our close collaboration with the West Manggarai Military District Command (KODIM) 1630, with the blessing of the West Manggarai Regency Government, proves that by working together, we can have a much greater and more sustainable social impact,” said Mr. Rudy Rudolf H. Butar Butar, General Manager of Meruorah Komodo Labuan Bajo.

This collaboration also highlights the active role of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), through the West Manggarai Military District Command (KODIM) 1630, which deployed its personnel in the implementation of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) and community service for physical construction in the field. This TNI involvement emphasizes the TNI’s unity with the people in accelerating social infrastructure development in remote and developing areas.

“The West Manggarai Military District Command (KODIM) 1630 is always ready to support programs that directly impact the welfare and future of the community, particularly in education. Through a collaborative effort with PT. IFPRO and Meruorah Komodo Labuan Bajo, our personnel in the field will ensure that the library renovation proceeds quickly, safely, and effectively. This is our commitment to educating the nation’s children in West Manggarai,” said Lieutenant Colonel Budiman Manurung, SE, MIP, Commander of the West Manggarai Military District Command (KODIM) 1630.

The ceremonial commencement of the work was held on Thursday morning, July 16, 2026, with a welcoming ceremony for Meruorah Management, represented by the school’s principal, Mrs. Sukmawati. The ceremony continued with a symbolic handover of building materials and concluded with a joint cement mixing ceremony by management and members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to officially mark the start of the renovation of the damaged library. Following the ceremony, the entire joint team moved to conduct a site inspection and extensive community service.

Through this program, PT. IFPRO, Meruorah Komodo Labuan Bajo, and KODIM 1630 West Manggarai hope that the revitalization of the SDN Gorontalo library will be completed on time and immediately utilized by students, fostering a bright, broad-minded generation who will lead Labuan Bajo in the future.
